We ...I had forgotten about these, they look yummy. We lived in Finland for 5 years before moving to Ireland 4 years ago. I regularly bake/cook Finnish dishes as I have retained a soft spot for all things Finnish. This weekend I made a batch of kaneli pulla, always a favourite with the children.
Great blog.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2510397078587696302.post-33036104962052150772011-05-11T19:36:03.091-07:002011-05-11T19:36:03.091-07:00Thanks for the comment Maarit. Thus the pea soup without chunks. Other recipes I get from Finnish sites, usually adapting for the ingredients commonly available in the U.S.Elizabethhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07751345150459980798noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2510397078587696302.post-59591396840394989082011-05-10T11:05:55.146-07:002011-05-10T11:05:55.146-07:00You do have the cutest blog! I somehow drifted in here from Scandifood and it's lovely to see our traditional dishes being made all the way in the U.S. I'm sure your husband really appreciates your efforts and it's nice to know that your kids are getting to know this side of the Finnish culture as well. I've lived abroad as well many years and you really start to miss those old-school Finnish dishes at some point. Even pea-soup, which by the way should be eaten with chunks.;)

Now when summer is aproaching, you should really cook "Kesä-keitto" = Summer soup. That's very traditional dish which many of us Finns remember especially from summer camps etc. The most traditional one is quite boring recipe but you can always tune it up, for example with "Koskenlaskija" type of cheese. If your husband doesn't like soups, I'm quite sure he doesn't like this one. But I'm sure this brings back memories.

Happy cooking!

:)MaaritMaarithttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09013737851175060259noreply@blogger.com
